The first part deals with the development, definitions and the theory of the field (mainly Europe), the second part covers the sources (i.e. written sources, iconography, sites & objects, and "sound" sources), and the third part develops four to five case studies (e.g. Thurn & Taxis, working-class dwellings, machine building, consumer goods).
